Review - Dominic Cobb is the foremost practitioner of the artistic science of extraction, inserting oneself into a subject's dreams to obtain hidden information without the subject knowing, a concept taught to him by his professor father-in-law, Dr. Stephen Miles. Dom's associates are Miles' former students, who Dom requires as he has given up being the dream architect for reasons he won't disclose. Dom's primary associate, Arthur, believes it has something to do with Dom's deceased wife, Mal, who often figures prominently and violently in those dreams, or Dom's want to "go home" (get back to his own reality, which includes two young children). Dom's work is generally in corporate espionage. As the subjects don't want the information to get into the wrong hands, the clients have zero tolerance for failure. Dom is also a wanted man, as many of his past subjects have learned what Dom has done to them. One of those subjects, Mr. Saito, offers Dom a job he can't refuse: to take the concept one step further into inception, namely planting thoughts into the subject's dreams without them knowing. Inception can fundamentally alter that person as a being. Saito's target is Robert Michael Fischer, the heir to an energy business empire, which has the potential to rule the world if continued on the current trajectory. Beyond the complex logistics of the dream architecture of the case and some unknowns concerning Fischer, the biggest obstacles in success for the team become worrying about one aspect of inception which Cobb fails to disclose to the other team members prior to the job, and Cobb's newest associate Ariadne's belief that Cobb's own subconscious, especially as it relates to Mal, may be taking over what happens in the dreams

We all know our imagination when used can come up some of the most amazing and wonderful things, things that can bring a smile to our face or even make us cringe in fear, the good thing about using our imagination though is it is us who is using it and in that way it is us who controls exactly what happens, the same thing in our dreams as well. We are the ones who control our dreams if we know how. Leonardo DiCaprio (Basketball Diaries, Titanic) plays Dom Cobb a man who with his partner Arthur played by Joseph Gordon Levitt (Mysterious Skin, Stop-Loss) are "extractors" people who can enter the dreams and sub conscious of the unwilling through some military experiment and gather information with their contract none the wiser. The duo is hired by Japanese business man Saito played by Ken Watanabe ( Memoirs of a Geisha, Batman Begins) to enter the sub conscious of Robert Fischer Jr played by Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Breakfast on Pluto) and get him to dissolve his dead father's company. If Cobb and his team are successful Saito will ensure the murder charge that Cobb is currently being hunted for (murdering his wife) is dropped and he can go back and be with his two kids once again. Cobb assembles a team ready to enter the 3 levels of Roberts's subconscious whilst he travels from Sydney to Los Angeles with the corpse of his father Inception is a film that if you look away for a second you are utterly lost, miss that one important sentence and you'll be left scratching your head wondering what the hell is actually going on. Is it a film that can hold your attention for the entirety or do you lose interest here and there and wonder what to buy in the supermarket once you leave the cinema? For me it was amazing, so far-fetched and over convoluted, so much bullshit and crazy ideas, so much imagination and wonder all in one very messy and crisscrossed package. I have seen this movie about 3 times now and it still confuses me, in saying that though I do still love it as well. Every time I have watched it I have gotten more and more out of it. I believe it to be the type of film where if two people sitting in the same cinema met after the film to have a coffee and debrief neither of them would agree on the same thing to which they had just seen anyway, both of them would have seen exactly the same thing but come to two very different conclusions. I believe personally that's exactly what Nolan wants from his audience with this film, he wants us (the audience) to walk away and tell each other our own ideas and theories and walk away totally bewildered. For that it works and it works so very well. The scenes set up in some of this movie are beyond imagination, there is one very amazing scene with Joseph Gordon Levitt's character that gives me tingles just thinking about it. Nolan is a very very smart man and no doubt has very big things to bring to the cinematic world. The ending by far is one of the most significant in the film I have my own ideas as I'm sure you will as well. I don't believe this is a film you would enjoy with anyone under 18 and then again even those over 18 without imagination and the ability to escape into a reality of complete amazement won't enjoy it either. Inception gets 4.5 BanShee Screams out of 5 only because there is still so much to it I want to understand and can't without getting Christopher Nolan to sit down and break it down for me even though I'm aware of how much that will kill the entire film for me.
